BG club dinner weekend

Our weekend went largely as planned. We had a night out in a pub on the outskirts of Preston on Friday evening and Saturday morning was spent on the Fylde, bird watching. We saw our first pink-footed geese and whooper swans of the 'winter' plus nine species of wader including a pair of really smart spotted redshank and three or four snipe at Conder. After bird watching it was time to head up to Shap for the dinner (via Tebay services for coffee and cake!)

The dinner made for a long evening because we were down in the bar at 6.15pm and didn't get to bed until very nearly 3.00am. The traditional roast beef dinner was great and Stevie Brock and I got our certificates, in my case presented by the late Fred Rogerson's daughters. It was fantastic to catch up with loads of friends from the fell running community plus meet up with some new friends from various corners of the web. Oh, and the Guinness flowed nicely

Yesterday it was a late breakfast, a steady drive home through the rain and an afternoon spent snoozing on the settee. I managed to run two laps of the village last night (four and a bit miles) on the road and was surprised pleasantly that I didn't feel too bad
